Viikonlopun kohokohdat olivat suurinpiirtein seuraavat:

Perjantai

  • Hirvensalmen Tervaleppä -juhla
  • Tutustuminen Kissakosken historialliseen tehdasmiljööseen.
  • Lowride Frisbeegolfin Suomen mestaruuskilpailut
  • Gimmick lasten kolmipyörällä saavutettu Suomen nopeusennätys n. 17 km/h

Lauantai

  • Tour De Mäntyharju pyöräilytapahtuma 160 km
  • Pertunpäivät -kyläjuhla Pertunmaalla
  • Suomen komein velomobiilisuora
  • illanvietto saunomisen ja syömisen merkeissä
  • Lowride ritsalla ampumisen Suomen mestaruuskilpailu (selvitys osaanottajan vilpillisestä toiminnasta käynnissä)

Sunnuntai

  • Loma-asunto messut
  • Taidekeskus Salmela

Ensi vuoden tapahtuman ajankohta ja paikka jäi kerrankin päättämättä, joten nyt on mahdollisuus jokaisella vaikuttaa. Foorumi tarjoaa mahdollisuuden ottaa osaa keskusteluun.

Elokuussa kokoonnutaan Nokialla vähintään yhtä vauhdikkaissa merkeissä kun Lowride 12-h Challenge kokoaa ennätysten ja omien rajojensa tavoittelijat samaan paikkaan. Luvassa on rentoa meininkiä ja suuria nopeuksia. Tapahtuman viralliselta sivulta löydät kaiken tarvittavan tiedon koskien tapahtumaa. Ilmoittaudu mukaan tai tule paikalle katsojaksi!

Record hunt – first milestone

Thursday, July 29, 2010 7:19

With unfinished fairing, 3 falls, 5 brake downs, 30 degrees heat and lack of experience in riding and service Jukka Kivistö and the crew broke the first milestone of 500 km in  19 hours 58minutes on the olympic velodrome in Helsinki. The performance gave valuable information about the bike and the rider on long distance events. Next the team goes for breaking the speed of 100 km/h on 200 m sprint.

The bike is still very unfinished but the most important thing is that it really works. The results will get better all the time as the building continues. Now the team have a strong base on which to tune on.

Lowride 2010 – friday

Friday, July 23, 2010 20:37

Weather seems to favour the event as the friday clearly proved. About 20 degrees and a clear blue sky were the perfect condition for a day filled with riding.

Participants cycled to Jyväskylä to explore the city centrum and visit some interesting museums. Alvar Aalto, the world famous architect, is closely linked to the city and this became real to the ´bent riders as they visited the official museum.

After this people split to smaller groups that headed to their own directions. The group with the longest distance (due to tight schedule about 100 km) had some downhill fun and broke the events speed record with 78 km/h on the city outskirts. Other groups enjoyed the city´s rich cultural offerings and beautiful nature though all traveled a notable distance during the day. But what could be better than advance from place to place with no hurry on a beautiful weather on a beautiful bike paths and of course with some good friends?

Tomorrow the day is spent in Peurunka. There is going to be some interesting presentations etc.

Lowride 2010 – the first day

Thursday, July 22, 2010 19:03

Thursday brought with it an almost exhausting heat of +30 degrees,  at least for us Finns that live the half of the year below zero.

Participants started on different routes in the morning depending on how much would one like to sweat on the sun during the day.

A rather big group started on a route circa 100 km that had some nice country roads with considerable downhills. Speeds exceeded 70 km/h more than once (video) but in general the speed was a nice cruising one of 25 – 30 km/h.

Other group took it more easy with some cultural sightseeings and a distance of approximately 50 km.

Tomorrow the group heads to Jyväskylä city.
